Another bike and walk link circuit between Hepburn Village and Daylesford town. Off road plus on road cycle lane when necessary. 8km of very pleasant stream and forest with enviable bush housing, the famous spa and mineral springs plus gold rush mining history. … More West Meets East : Daylesford to Hepburn Village
A circuit of bike/walk trails linking Hepburn Village and Daylesford town. This post describes a circuit that is entirely west of Main Road that links the town and village. Goldfields Track users will prefer these links to the tacky Main Road official route. … More Circuit Trail West linking Daylesford and Hepburn Village
Groomed trails Here’s an update on my original report on this fun and good training circuit. If you are a skier, especially XC, you well know the difference between skiing groomed and ungroomed trails. Spout and Badger Tracks have just been groomed in the sense they have been remade by a bulldozer. Until the 4WDs … More Revisited: Up Spout & Down Badger

This circuit has been a private favourite for 11 years. To announce the forthcoming summer release of the Daylesford area trail maps, it is now yours also. It will feature on one of those maps. A 6km circuit recreational ride or hill training completely within forest and featuring a 2km downhill. Start/finish at the eponymous … More Up Spout and Down Badger

The bbq mentioned below evokes bacon aroma temptingly wafting in the early morning zephyrs so I guess Fryerstown is a proper spelling after all. Fryerstown School Entry Point: Water, Showers, Camping The Goldfields Track has a new … More A Fav Ride to Fryerstown or is that Friarstown?
A few Sundays ago I had the opportunity to ride Dry Diggings Track from near Vaughan Springs towards Daylesford. This is one of my two favourite sections of Goldfields Track (GT), the other being Fryerstown – Castlemaine which I will cover in the next week or so. I started from the junction of Porcupine Ridge … More A Short Trip in the Hinterland Bush
V’locity trains to and fro enabled a relaxing Australia Day jaunt on the Leanganook section of the Goldfields track from Bendigo to Castlemaine. Again it revealed new items of interest. Also some flood damage and on the plus side, great new Goldfields track signage.

What a beautiful day on my favourite section of the Dry Diggings Track – NE from Porcupine Ridge Rd. Note at left the new yellow topped Goldfields Track signs – easier to see when riding and there appears to be more of these along the route to provide reassurance. The track is in geat condition … More The best mtb season in Wombat Forest – spring
Departed from the Bendigo bushlands on a very pleasant riding day to trial the Geocaching Australia route feature (see previous post). A couple of km on, I rode up to the first of 3 intended geocaches as colourful runners streamed past me. There was an orienteering control site just 30m away. This cache was most … More Geocaching on a Leanganook Ride
